Know Before You Go: Easter at HPUMC

March 26, 2024 by Analise Narine

When Jesus resurrected, so did hope. On Easter, we honor the unimaginable sacrifice that our Savior made for us, and the miracle that happened just three days later. The stone was rolled away, and out of the tomb came hope—for new life and a future with God. There’s no better cause for celebration! Join us as we honor that He is Risen on Easter Sunday. Below is everything you need to know to celebrate this joyous occasion with us.

Easter at HPUMC: Hope Resurrected

Do I need to register?

Registration is not required for our Easter services, but we encourage you to arrive early, as seats across our many services are expected to fill up quickly.

We anticipate that the Sanctuary will fill up at our 9, 10, and 11 am services, therefore we have prepared Wesley Hall with a beautiful Easter worship experience complete with live music and Rev. Paul Rasmussen’s sermon. Our team of staff and volunteers will provide assistance getting to this additional worship venue.

This year's services won’t just be on Easter Sunday, March 31. Those looking to celebrate the night before are also invited to join us for one of our two services on Saturday, March 30—at 5 and 7 pm in the Sanctuary.

Should I bring my kids?

While we will not have regular kids’ programming or KidCare for our Easter services, kids are always welcome in all of our worship services. Activity packets will be available in each venue.

We especially encourage you to bring your little ones to our family-friendly outdoor services! We will have a Sunrise Outdoors service at 6:45 am and a Cornerstone Outdoors service at 9:30 am, both held in Arden Forest on Sunday, March 31. We also welcome you to bring your well-behaved dog(s) to our outdoor services!

Where should I park?

Parking for Easter will be available in the Meadows Parking Center and Hillcrest Parking Center. For handicapped and senior parking, the HPUMC parking lot on the north side of the building (adjacent to the Sanctuary) will be available.

The HPUMC Shuttle is available for Easter this year! You can park at Moody Parking Center or Binkley Parking Center on SMU’s campus, then take the shuttle to get to all of our Easter services. The shuttle will pick you up from the front entrance of the SMU parking center and drop you off at either Arden Forest or the Sanctuary.

You can learn more and view the parking maps here.

How can I make an impact this Easter?

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to love others. Each year, 100% of our Easter Offering goes back into our community and helps us feed and clothe our neighbors in Dallas, promote justice, and lift people out of poverty around the globe with our Outreach partners. You can bring your gift to the church, mail it in, or give online today at hpumc.org/give. Let’s transform lives together!

What if I can’t join in person?

No matter where you are, you can tune in and worship with us online or stream on YouTube, Roku, Chromecast, or Apple TV. Join or invite a friend to join us virtually this Easter at hpumc.org/watch-online.

What can I do before or after service?

Outside of our services, we will have something for everyone this Easter! Don’t forget to stop by one of our beautiful flower crosses, perfect for those Easter family photos and memories.

In addition, look out for a clay activity after the Cornerstone Outdoor services, inspiring you to be transformed this Easter. This experience is great for all ages!

On Mockingbird Lawn and around the main Sanctuary entrance, the Bishop playground will be open, and Chance’s Cafe will be serving up smiles, coffee, and delicious sweets.

While waiting in line, parents can follow the balloons to the playground with their kids. Parents should not leave their kids unattended while on the playground.
