Funerals

A worship service following the death of a loved one does at least two things: it enables us to face the reality of our own and our loved ones’ mortality and comforts us in the celebration of another reality -- life in God after death. As one of our creeds declares: “In life, in death, in life beyond death, we are not alone. Thanks be to God!”

A funeral can present a bewildering array of details to be resolved in a short span of time. As we work with you to plan your loved one’s service, we will walk you through these details so you’ll know what the church will handle for you and what you need to handle yourself.

HPUMC’s clergy and music leadership are committed to claiming and presenting a balanced and theologically sound experience in funerals and memorial services, and we have adopted the following guidelines to assist in planning.
