Know Before You Go: Easter at HPUMC

April 03, 2023

Following his crucifixion, Jesus was placed in a tomb, but it could not hold him. The tomb is empty; He lives. This Easter Sunday, we honor that Jesus was, and is, risen. He is our ever-present, living hope, for life abundant and life beyond the grave, from now to forever. Below is everything you need to know to celebrate this joyous occasion with us!

Do I need to register?

Registration is not required for our Easter services, but we encourage you to come early, as seats across our twelve services are expected to fill up quickly.

To help accommodate the crowds, this year's services won’t just be on Easter Sunday, April 9! Those looking to celebrate the night before are also invited to join us for one of our two 5 pm services on Saturday in Sanctuary and a Cornerstone service in Wesley Hall.

Should I bring my kids?

While we will not have regular kids programming or KidCare during Easter services, they are always welcome in all of our worship services. Activity packets are also available in each venue.

We especially encourage you to bring your little ones to our family-friendly outdoor services! We will have an Easter Sunrise Service at 6:45 am and a Cornerstone Outdoors Service at 9:30 am, both held in Arden Forest on Sunday, April 9.

Where should I park?

Parking for Easter will be available in the HPUMC parking lot on the north side of the building (adjacent to the Sanctuary) for handicapped and senior parking, as well as the Meadows and Hillcrest Parking Garages.

We’re letting you in on HPUMC’s best-kept secret: You can also park at Moody Parking Center or Binkley Parking Center on the campus of SMU, then take the HPUMC Shuttle to get to all of our Easter services! The shuttle will pick you up from the front entrance of the parking center and drop you off at either Arden Forest or the Sanctuary.

Where do I enter?

With so many people joining us on Easter Sunday, please reference the map below on where to enter and exit the Sanctuary and Cox Chapel. We will have people helping direct you and answer any questions you have so keep an eye out for those wearing the blue lanyards.

I have a heart for giving. How can I make an impact?

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to love others. Every year, 100% of our Easter Offering goes back into our community and helps us share the love of Christ, promote justice, feed and clothe our neighbors in Dallas, and lift people out of poverty around the globe. You can bring your gift to the church, mail it in, or give online today at hpumc.org/offering. Let’s transform lives together!

What if I can’t join in person?

No matter where you are, you can always tune in and worship with us online or stream on YouTube, Roku, Chromecast, or Apple TV. Join or invite a friend to join us virtually this Easter at hpumc.org/watch-online.

What can I do before or after service?

Outside of our services, we will have something for everyone this Easter! Don’t forget to stop by one of our beautiful flower crosses, located on Mockingbird Lawn and in Arden Forest, perfect for those Easter family photos and memories.

Also located in Arden Forest, we will have coffee and an “A Living Hope” planting experience, great for all ages.

On Mockingbird Lawn and around the main Sanctuary entrance, the Bishop playground will be open and Chance’s Cafe will be serving up smiles, coffee, and delicious sweets. There will also be a string quartet, and while waiting in line, parents can follow the balloons to the playground with their kids. Please note, parents should not leave their kids unattended while on the playground.
