A milestone moment: Third-grade Bibles

October 19, 2021

The annual event of handing out Bibles to third-graders (90 this year!) is a long-standing tradition at HPUMC, which we had the opportunity to celebrate this past Sunday, October 17, at 8:30 am Sanctuary service and 9:30 am Cornerstone service.

If you never received a third-grade Bible, please let us know! We’d love to give you one (no matter your age). Email fanchera@hpumc.org for more information.

Why do we do it?

To celebrate and equip the third-grade students with their Bible and invite them to worship and feel the Holy Spirit in our worship venues. We want to encourage students by letting each one know they are welcome in our big services and an important part of the church.

“Parents of third-graders know it's an exciting time in their kids' development as they open up to discover the world around them,” said Sharla Jolly, Pastor to Kids and Families. “That's the reason that Highland Park United Methodist Church has a tradition of giving Bibles to third-graders. We want to equip them to explore one of the greatest tools in our Christian journey.”
