Youth mission trip to San Antonio a huge success

July 12, 2021

Last week, 70 of HPUMC’s youth, ranging from seventh-graders to seniors, and 23 adult volunteers served the people and community of San Antonio during this year’s summer mission trip.

The team from HPUMC worked with the San Antonio Food Bank to make meal boxes for senior citizens. They also worked on the exterior of homes to make them safer, warmer, and dryer for elderly, disabled, and low-income residents. After the hard work of each day, evenings included nightly worship, sermons, and late-night games.

Rev. Chelsea Peddecord, Associate High School Pastor, shared another unique part of the trip. “Our students had the chance to mold clay and pray about how God is shaping and molding them,” she said.

In keeping with the theme of “Anointed: Called to Lead,” students were also prayed over and anointed with oil.

This was HPUMC Youth Ministry’s first mission trip since 2019, and it made an incredible impact on the lives of numerous San Antonio residents as well as the students who participated.
