Torie Watkins and her husband moved to Dallas a couple of months before the pandemic began. After watching Rev. Matt Tuggle speak about HPUMC’s Bible Reading Plan, she decided to read the Book of Genesis as part of a Small Group. It was a unique opportunity to study the Bible while growing personal connections and relationships. And it made her feel so much more at home at HPUMC.
Before reading Genesis, she had always felt that there was something about her that didn’t fit what the “perfect Christian” should be. As she read the stories of imperfect people that God chose to do extraordinary things, she realized that perfection isn’t the expectation.
“To see that God works through imperfect people, radically changed the way I see myself as a person of faith,” Torie said.
