At the end of June, HPUMC will say farewell to Rev. Victoria Robb Powers.

Rev. Robb Powers has faithfully led the Cox Chapel community for over three years and has been the Director of Adult Ministries for almost four years. Prior to that, she served in HPUMC’s Group Life ministry.

However, serving at HPUMC at all was an unexpected blessing for Rev. Robb Powers. “I never in a million years would have guessed that this beautiful church that I drove by thousands of times in my years here as a Dallas resident would be the place that would give me the opportunity to live into my call,” she said. “It’s been an incredible gift to serve here.”

As for the Cox Chapel service, she said, “Leading that community of faith has been my life's greatest privilege alongside marrying my husband and parenting my children. Serving communion week after week — meeting them at the rails and telling them by name that the body of Christ was broken for them — was the greatest honor of my time at HPUMC.”

A few more of the many memories she’ll cherish from her time at HPUMC include “crafting Advent and Lenten devotionals, hosting Faith Q's events where we got to encourage doubt as a partner of faith and leading the women's retreat.”

Now, Rev. Robb Powers has accepted an opportunity to serve at University Park UMC as their Executive Minister. Rev. Matt Tuggle knows that she’ll excel there as well because of her desire to continually improve in every area of ministry.

“Alongside her other gifts, one of the things that I admire most about Victoria is her eagerness to grow and learn,” said Rev. Tuggle. “She often seeks out coaching from colleagues and is always open to feedback on ways that she can grow as a pastor. We’ll certainly miss Victoria, but I could not be happier for her.”
