This Easter, we weren’t in the same physical place, but Highland Park United Methodist Church still celebrated Christ’s resurrection together.

Rev. Matt Tuggle began Easter Sunday with a special sunrise service from Parkland Hospital on Facebook Live.

“The opportunity to worship with our frontline heroes at Parkland was a real honor. These men and women serve our community every day in the Parkland ER,” Rev. Tuggle said.

“My message was simple: the most extraordinary thing we can do in these times is to continue to do our ordinary things faithfully.”

Then, we brought all of our worship venues together for one service, available at three different times online.

Senior Minister, Rev. Paul Rasmussen, shared how even though this Easter is different, the message of Easter can’t be quarantined.

“Easter is not about a building. It’s about a message that transforms lives,” he said. “It’s a life-changing, transforming, spirit-building, hope-giving recognition that Jesus of Nazareth, who died on a cross, on the third day, rose from the dead.”

In total, more than 23,800 people worshiped with HPUMC on Easter Sunday! We hope the entire day was a memorable and meaningful one for you and your family.
