Confirmation is the time when students claim faith for themselves and become full members of our church. As a ceremony, the Rite of Confirmation service provides the setting and opportunity for the child to acknowledge and profess the faith into which he or she has been baptized through a special worship service. During the service, the individual stands before the community, is asked the historical questions of Christian discipleship, is asked to affirm the faith for him or herself, receives the power of the Holy Spirit, and is commissioned for a life of Christian discipleship. This results in the person becoming a “professing member” of the church. Professing members accept and participate in the privileges and responsibilities of membership in the church and enter more fully into the ministry for which baptism has commissioned them.

Other Details

  • How large can my group be? Due to limited seating, a maximum of 8 seats have been reserved in your honor.
  • Time: Doors will open at 6:30 pm. Please enter the main Sanctuary entry (off of the parking lot). The service is from 7 to 8 pm in the Sanctuary.
  • Parking: Parking is available in the HPUMC parking lot and Meadows Museum parking garage (HPUMC uses the left side entrance, Meadows Museum uses the right side entrance and will charge you a parking fee).
  • Seating: Doors will open at 6:30 pm; first come, first served. HPUMC staff will seat families in designated rows (every other pew) so that clergy can bless each student individually during the vows portion of the service.
  • Attire: Sunday morning best is highly encouraged.
  • Livestream: Both services will be live-streamed at 7 pm at www.hpumc.org. Go to our homepage and look for the live stream link at the top of the page on the day and time of each service.
  • Give: If you want to support future Confirmation classes financially, click here.
  • Photos: Professional photographers will be present to capture the evening. All images will be available to download at a later time.
  • Promotion Sunday: Promotion into the Middle School Ministry is Sunday, May 5. Starting May 5, your child can participate in all middle school ministry programming.
  • Confirmation lesson on April 28? There is NO confirmation lesson this Sunday, April 28. Other than the Rite of Confirmation Services, confirmation programming has officially ended.
