Summer 2024 at HPUMC

As summer approaches and plans are made, don’t forget that HPUMC has events for all ages to learn, connect, and grow this summer! Take a look at some of the opportunities that are coming up, and choose a few to add to your summer schedule. If you’re out of town or unable to be with us in person, you can always tune in and worship with us online.

VBS 2024: Start the Party

June 3-6 | 9 am-Noon

No matter where you are this summer, you can contribute to VBS week! If you’re in town, consider volunteering to help kids have a fun-filled week—opportunities are available for adult and youth volunteers. You can also support Vacation Bible School by purchasing snacks from the VBS Amazon Wish List to feed our campers, or helping provide for our Outreach partner this year: Charles Rice Learning Center.

Young Adult Summer Book Study: Practicing the Way

Mondays, June 3-August 26 | 7-8 pm | Room 254

Everybody is following somebody or something. The question is, who or what are you following? This summer, join us for a Young Adult Book Study on "Practicing the Way" by John Mark Comer. Learn what it looks like to be deeply formed by Jesus and how we can orient our own lives around the goals of a disciple: to be with Jesus, to become like Jesus, and to do what Jesus did.

Rejebian Series

Wednesdays, June 5-August 14 | 7-8 pm | Wesley Hall

The Rejebian Series is back! The beloved book review series will welcome a fantastic lineup of books and book reviewers on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer. We invite you to participate in this tradition’s 68th season this year.

Moms’ Meetup

Saturdays, June 15 and 20 | 9-10:30 am | Tolleson Family Activity Center, Third Floor

Come join other moms with kids under two for fellowship and fun! Connect with moms in the same season of life in a casual environment as your little ones crawl and discover new friends. Drinks and a light breakfast will be provided for both moms and toddlers. We can't wait to see you there!

Father’s Day at HPUMC

Sunday, June 16 | 9 am-12:30 pm | Mockingbird Lawn and Cox Chapel

Celebrate fatherhood in all its forms with us! Take time to show some appreciation for your dad, father-in-law, stepdad, or any other father figure in your life. Connect with friends and family as you share your favorite memories with your dad and make new ones. We are also opening up Cox Chapel for private moments of prayer and reflection on any struggles, wins, and wishes related to fatherhood.

Women’s Night of Worship

Thursday, July 11 | 6:15-8:30 pm | Sanctuary

The summer is too long not to gather together with other women here at HPUMC! Join us for our summer Night of Worship and enjoy an evening of fellowship and fun with other women. We hope this unique time of worshiping God and hanging out with friends will leave you feeling renewed and refreshed this summer. Don’t forget to invite your friends, neighbors, or coworkers!

Costa Rica Medical Mission Trip

July 25-28 | Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica

Experience beautiful Costa Rican culture while engaging in life-changing work! Serve alongside mission trip teammates as well as medical staff at the Wesley Clinic in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. Together, we will provide medical care to residents of a small community in the eastern part of Costa Rica. Anyone aged 21 and up is welcome to attend. You do not need to be a medical provider to come; however, medical personnel are prioritized.

Please note that the church will be closed on June 19 for Juneteenth and July 3-4 for the Fourth of July.
