Rev. Matt Tuggle to lead HPUMC’s Cornerstone services

December 07, 2020

On Sunday, December 6, Rev. Paul Rasmussen announced that Rev. Matt Tuggle will begin leading HPUMC’s contemporary Cornerstone services, with Rev. Rasmussen continuing to lead the traditional Sanctuary services.

"Our church has a long history of raising up the next generation of great Christian leaders and communicators,” said Rev. Paul Rasmussen. “Matt falls right into line with that value. He's incredibly gifted, and he is the right pastor at the right time to lead Cornerstone into the future."

“Paul is a wonderful friend and mentor and I am honored that he has asked me to step into this role,” Rev. Tuggle said. “Cornerstone has been making a difference in people’s lives for over 20 years, and I could not be more excited about being a part of this next chapter.”

Cornerstone is a worship community that longs to lift up the message of Jesus Christ in a modern, relevant way. The first Cornerstone service was led by Rev. Mark Craig and Rev. Rebecca Frank in April 2000. A year into the contemporary service’s existence, Rev. Craig asked Rev. Paul Rasmussen to lead it. Since then, it has grown to two Sunday morning worship services in the casual, welcoming environment of Wesley Hall.
