Starting in November, there will be a new face in HPUMC’s Contemporary Cornerstone venue!
We are incredibly excited to announce that Rev. Matt Tuggle, an associate minister with HPUMC, will be taking on the primary preaching role at the 9:30 am Cornerstone service. Rev. Tuggle will continue to lead the 11:00 am Chapel service he started several years ago.
For the past four years, HPUMC Senior Minister Rev. Paul Rasmussen has preached via video at the 9:30 service, allowing him to be the primary preacher in the Sanctuary at the same hour. Rev. Rasmussen shares the reason for the change.
“One of the values that we so uphold here is the development of the next generation of Christian leaders,” he says. “We really believe that Matt is one of the most gifted preachers in all of Methodism, and he is developed so well in the Chapel. We really look forward to giving him this opportunity.”
Rev. Matt Tuggle’s larger role with HPUMC is also expanding. Rev. Tuggle has been named Executive Minister over all programs and ministries of the Mockingbird Campus. His focus in this newly created position will be to make sure that all ministries and programs of HPUMC line up with the church’s mission of making deeply devoted followers of Jesus Christ. As part of the new role, Rev. Tuggle sits on the Senior Leadership Team at HPUMC.
Rev. Matt Tuggle previously served as the Director of Family Ministries at HPUMC for five years.
Rev. Rasmussen will continue to preach at Cornerstone Saturday Night and at the 11:00 am Cornerstone service on Sundays.
“I'll hope you'll embrace Matt and Amy, and all three of their children,” Rev. Rasmussen says. “I am so thrilled that Matt going forward will be our primary teacher for the 9:30 hour.”
