We hope your sweet tooth is ready because Chance’s Pie & Coffee Shop is opening soon! Have questions about this delicious new spot? From the meaning behind the name, to where you can get a delicious pie of your own, we have all the answers you crave about HPUMC’s new hangout.

Why is it called “Chance’s?”

Chance’s Pie & Coffee Shop is named in memory of Chance Urschel. Chance was involved in HPUMC’s Belong disABILITY Ministry and, despite his physical limitations, he loved bringing a smile to others’ faces by baking and giving away pies. HPUMC and the Urschel family hope that Chance’s Pie & Coffee Shop will inspire others to share their gifts and find joy in baking, just like Chance did.

Where is it located?

The shop is on the first floor of the Tolleson Family Activity Center (located at the corner of Hillcrest and Normandy) and is managed and staffed by participants of HPUMC’s Belong disABILITY Ministry.

When is it open?

The shop will have its grand opening on September 15 and will be open Sundays through Fridays from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm.

What do they serve?

Chance’s will sell 4" personal pies for $5 and 9" family-sized pies for $25 in apple, cherry, and coconut cream flavors. Coffee and tea will also be available for purchase.

How many pies will they sell each week?

At the grand opening, 240 personal pies will be available, but most weeks, Chance’s will have 100 personal pies and 20 family-sized pies available for purchase. All proceeds from sales will go toward covering the costs of Chance’s training program.

Can I help somehow?
