How can you serve in the community and at HPUMC this summer? Whether you’re an individual or part of a small group or family, there’s an opportunity for you depending on your gifts, abilities, and availability. Check out just a few of the many ways you can get involved this June, July, and August!

Read with a child

Munger Place | June & July | Monday – Thursday | 10:00 am-noon

Will you take two hours to invest in kids from our neighborhood? Since 1998, Project Transformation has engaged young adults in purposeful leadership and ministry, supported underserved children and families, and connected churches to communities in need. Now, you can participate in this summer literacy day camp that pairs volunteers with elementary-age children to read together. Background check required for 18+, but 13+ are welcome to serve.

Share your college and career path

Martin Luther King Center, 2922 MLK Blvd | Thursdays, June 27 – July 25 | 30 minutes between 9:00 – 11:00 am

Partner with The Turner 12 program to inspire, motivate, and encourage eighth-graders to future success. Spend up to 30 minutes sharing your story —where you went to college and what your career path was. This exposure to a variety of schools and career choices is vitally important to expanding the horizons of students.

Be a mission trip leader

Deliver meals to seniors

June, July, and August | Monday – Friday

Partner with Meals on Wheels to support seniors in need by delivering meals to them on weekday mornings. A friendly visit and nutritious food make a world of difference to those living in isolation and hunger. During the summer, when many regular volunteers are traveling, extra drivers and substitutes are especially needed. Typically, two people deliver together and children are always welcome. Application and training required.
