Eight tips for celebrating Christmas with HPUMC

December 15, 2020

Christmas Eve is such a special day when we get to proclaim the long-awaited Messiah has come! It may look a little different this year, but we are still so excited to welcome you to HPUMC (in person or virtually) on this special day.

Here are some important things to know to make your experience meaningful.

Worshiping in person?

1. Remember that you must register to attend any of our five Traveler’s Services or 11 in-person Christmas Eve services, so that we can prepare for your arrival.

2. Find the venue and time that fits your schedule. From traditional to contemporary, family-friendly to late at night, we have the right service for you! We even offer early Traveler’s Services for those going out of town.

3. See what we’re doing to keep you and other attendees safe — before, during, and after the service. With sanitation stations, socially distanced seating, face masks, and more, the health and safety of everyone worshiping is essential to us.

Worshiping online?

4. If you want to worship from your own home, we offer nine online Christmas Eve service options. Find the style and time that fits your schedule.

5. Invite family, friends, or neighbors to worship with you virtually. We may not be able to be physically with some of our loved ones this Christmas, but we can still worship “together.”

6. Don’t forget your candle! We want you to participate fully in our service, so be sure that you have a candle and lighter handy for our candlelight services.

Have small children?

7. Consider attending our Cornerstone Family Service (in person or online) at 11:00 am on Christmas Eve. While kids are welcome and encouraged to attend any of our services, this family-friendly service is geared specifically toward them.

8. Please keep in mind that childcare will not be available for Traveler's Services or Christmas Eve Services.

Lastly, don’t forget that HPUMC’s worship services on Sunday, December 27 will be online-only and led by Uptown Church, so you can get a feel for what our newest campus will be like. And mark your calendars! Because Uptown Church is live at House of Blues starting on Sunday, January 10 at 10:00 am.
