Last Wednesday was an incredible night! Almost 300 couples joined us for The Marriage Project's first "Date Night" event! We couldn't have hoped for a better way to celebrate and kick off this ongoing project.
Couples got to hang out with good food, games, and a festive atmosphere in Great Hall, while a slide show featuring conversation questions, and pictures of different pastors at their weddings (some from 30 years ago!) played. "What is something you hated as a kid, but now appreciate?" is something couples of all ages could have fun answering and learning about each other.
The group then moved into Wesley Hall, where they were treated to Ashley and Paul Rasmussen talking about their marriage. The Rasmussens were interviewed by Peggy Wehmeyer, a member of our church, who has been on staff at Channel 8 news, ABC News, and is now contributing op-ed writer for the Dallas Morning News. The conversation was honest and refreshing, and a great way to hear from our Senior Pastor beyond Sunday morning.
Couples who attended received a Boxed Date as they left, which included sweet treats, coupons, a set of conversation questions, and a custom Date Night Bingo board as a way to encourage them to keep their relationship meaningful and fun.
The Marriage Project Date Night was a fun evening, and we are just getting started! With almost 10,000 married people at our church, we are excited to be doing more to support them throughout the lifetime of their marriage. We will be starting short-term small groups for couples in the next few weeks, as well as hosting regular social meetups, so keep an eye out for details about those upcoming opportunities.
