HPUMC has a continued interest in, and commitment to, racial reconciliation and justice in our city. You may remember that I had an open conversation with my longtime friend, Rev. Richie Butler, in July about issues of racial injustice in our country. He talked about his organization, Project Unity, and their upcoming project, Together We Can. Many of you responded with great interest and excitement.

On Thursday, I attended a press conference where Butler, notable attorney Rob Crain, and other influential leaders from Dallas gathered to support Together We Can and committed to take steps to educate, enable, and empower a lifestyle of mindfulness and action against racism.

Crain is a longtime member of HPUMC and, like many of you, wanted to find solutions to this devastating divide in our country. Crain says, "Together We Can provides introspection tools to bring awareness to blind spots and implicit biases that we all have, while also providing consistent and positive action items against racism."

Crain and Butler, who is a pastor at St. Luke Community UMC, pulled together a stellar group of national corporations, sports entities, and individuals who have pledged to use their influence and effort to unite for change. I am excited about HPUMC's role in this project and believe that together with their other partners, we can make a difference. To join others from HPUMC at upcoming events, register here.
