What is the most meaningful gift you’ve ever received? Sometimes, we don’t fully appreciate a gift until we pause to reflect on its value, and in the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, it’s easy to underappreciate the extraordinary gift God has given us in the birth of Jesus. In his gospel account, Matthew reminds us of the value of the gift of Immanuel, “God with us,” by pointing back to the prophet Isaiah who foretold of the savior God promised—a savior who would bring healing and forgiveness to a broken world. In this sermon, we will reflect on God’s greatest gift to us, how Jesus restores our brokenness, and why this is truly a season of hope, joy, love, and peace.
