Bible Reading Plan: Mark
What if you could hear directly from someone who walked and talked with Jesus? The Gospel of Mark is just that, an eyewitness account about Jesus and stories about his life and ministry gathered directly from the people who knew him and spent time with him. Mark carefully crafted his gospel to introduce you to the most influential man to ever live and invite you to follow Jesus for yourself.

WEEK ONE
Key Thought/Summary
Mark opens with the bold claim that Jesus is the Messiah and the Son of God, and this is the only time he gives us his own opinion. From here on, he will let Jesus' words and actions speak for themselves. As Jesus travels throughout Galilee, some follow Him, some question Him, and others reject Him entirely. But Jesus isn’t surprised; He knows His rescue mission to confront evil and restore the world will face resistance, and that does not change His message! In Jesus, the kingdom of God is drawing near, and that is very good news for those whose hearts are open to receive it. As you read, ask yourself: what does it look like when God's kingdom comes near?
WEEK TWO
Key Thought/Summary
Jesus’ authority takes center stage as He calms a storm, drives out demons, feeds thousands with a few loaves and fish, and even raises a child from the dead. Each miracle reveals His unmatched power over nature, evil, illness, and death itself. Crowds gather in awe and His followers are challenged to trust Him more deeply. His compassion also shines as He heals the marginalized and crosses cultural boundaries to restore lives. Through these acts, Jesus shows that God’s Kingdom is both powerful and personal, bringing hope and renewal to all who put their trust in Him. How might His presence and power challenge or encourage you this week?
WEEK THREE
Key Thought/Summary
This is a turning point. The disciples’ expectations of who Jesus is and where the Kingdom mission is headed are shattered when He tells them: “The Son of Man must suffer many things, be rejected, be killed, and after three days rise again.” They imagined a Messiah who would conquer their enemies, not one who would win by dying. But Jesus is clear: the path to life and restoration is through His self-sacrifice. He calls his disciples to walk the same road—taking up their crosses and offering their lives in love. As you read, notice how Jesus reshapes their expectations and calls them—and us—to trust His vision over our own.
WEEK FOUR
Key Thought/Summary
When Jesus rides into Jerusalem for Passover, the crowds hail him as the Messiah, but he isn’t the kind of Messiah they expect. Instead of rallying an army to overthrow Herod and the Romans, Jesus heads to the Temple, driving out corrupt merchants who are exploiting the worshipers. This brings Him into direct conflict with the religious authorities, who question his authority and try to turn the crowds against him. Through parables and debates, Jesus exposes their hypocrisy and blindness to what God is doing, but they won’t repent. These leaders harden their hearts and plot to kill him. From this point on, the tension will only continue to build as Jesus moves towards the inevitable climax of his mission: the cross.
WEEK FIVE
Key Thought/Summary
This is the night everything has been leading to. Jesus is betrayed by a disciple, abandoned by his friends, and condemned by the ones he came to save. As he is lifted onto a cross, the powers of the world believe they have won, but this is his coronation! He is the King who rules by laying down his life. Darkness falls, the earth trembles, and Jesus breathes his last. Yet, the story is not over. On the third day, his tomb is empty. His resurrection is not just a miracle but the dawn of something entirely new. If Jesus is alive, then everything is different. How does that change your life and give you hope today?
