LOCAL PARTNERS
OUTREACH COMMITTEE-FUNDED PARTNERS
Each year, the Executive Leadership of HPUMC, with the approval of the Finance Committee and the Church Council, allocates funds from special offerings (Easter, Christmas, and Communion) along with the operating budget to be distributed by the Outreach Committee. The committee makes the funding decisions after reviewing applications and financials, conducting site visits, and having lengthy discussions over several months. Selected partners have not only been well-vetted by the committee, but have been determined to fit within the mission of HPUMC.
Agape Clinic
A partner of HPUMC since 1983, Agape Clinic is the only 100% donation-based healthcare center in the U.S. They do tremendous work, having seen 21,000 patients in 2025. Notably, they recently expanded to include a full dental wing and plan to open a pediatric wing as well. HPUMC supports Agape with volunteers to do all sorts of tasks, from painting the walls to making waiting room kits for kids.
Austin Street Center
Austin Street Center is a South Dallas homeless shelter providing wraparound services for up to 500 unhoused neighbors at once. HPUMC has partnered with Austin Street since 1993 and consistently sends groups to volunteer to serve dinner, sort donations, or fellowship with clients.
Christ’s Foundry United Methodist Mission
Christ’s Foundry has been a unique partner of HPUMC since 2008, operating both as a Methodist Church in West Dallas and supporting their congregants in meeting their basic needs. There are many individual opportunities to volunteer with them, whether it be in weekly and monthly food distributions or providing educational support to children and adults.
Community Partners of Dallas
Community Partners of Dallas provides support and resources to caseworkers working with kids in foster care and/or facing abuse. They provide clothing, car seats, and more, so case workers are equipped to serve the children, as well as a safe, kid-friendly space for kids removed from their homes in the middle of the night. HPUMC specifically has funded car seats and cribs since 2006 and provides constant volunteer support. Volunteer opportunities consist of working in the warehouse, participating in their four annual drives, or making cookies for caseworkers.
Dallas Hope Charities
Dallas Hope Charities is a nonprofit organization that serves homeless LGBTQ+ youth. In addition to consistent street outreach throughout the city, DHC operates the Dallas Hope Center, a home for eight individuals who receive case management services and support to gain independence. HPUMC has partnered with Dallas Hope Charities since 2023.
Dickinson Place
HPUMC started Dickinson Place, an affordable living complex for older adults, in 1971. With 165 apartments and a constantly increasing need, Dickinson Place continues to thrive today. The residents are famous for their love of bingo, which is one of our consistent volunteer opportunities there, along with donating to their thrift store, throwing a birthday party, or even making crafts for the residents.
Literacy Achieves
Literacy Achieves is a nonprofit organization that equips non-English-speaking adults and their young children with English literacy and life skills to promote self-sufficiency and overall well-being. Literacy Achieves has multiple campuses and serves over 1,000 people each year, creating a significant need for volunteer support for events, English education, and childcare support. HPUMC has partnered with Literacy Achieves since 2024.
Now-Forward
Now-Forward, previously North Dallas Shared Ministries, is a nonprofit organization providing wraparound services to over 120,000 people annually. They provide everything from school uniforms, housing assistance, and dental work to an ongoing food pantry and clothes closet. Volunteer opportunities are available in a wide range of programs. HPUMC has partnered with Now-Forward since 1999.
Project Transformation North Texas
The mission of Project Transformation North Texas (PTNT) is to transform communities by engaging children, college-age young adults, and churches in purposeful relationships. PTNT does this by recruiting college-aged AmeriCorps interns every year to support the literacy of children all over DFW throughout the summer break. Volunteers can read to children year-round or support events for college-aged interns. HPUMC has partnered with PTNT since 2002.
St. Philip’s School & Community Center
St. Philip’s is a South Dallas PreK-8 school and community organization that supports the local community through programming for older adults, Aunt Bette's Food Pantry, and community-wide events throughout the year. HPUMC has partnered with St. Philip’s since 2019, providing funding and volunteer support in all areas of their work.
Wesley-Rankin Community Center
Wesley-Rankin Community Center is a West Dallas nonprofit organization that identifies and bridges gaps in education, health, and skill development by providing multi-generational programs that empower families to access their full potential. Wesley-Rankin is one of HPUMC’s longest-standing partnerships, originating in the 1970s, and provides amazing volunteer opportunities in their older adult and kids’ programming.
Wilkinson Center
Wilkinson Center is a nonprofit providing educational support, such as GED and ESOL classes, across DFW and an East Dallas food pantry. Their food pantry is recognized as one of the best in DFW for obtaining fresh fruits and vegetables. Another long-term partner of HPUMC, since 1982, Wilkinson Center has a consistent need for volunteers in their food pantry and with seasonal events.
LOCAL PARTNERS
Throughout the year, Highland Park United Methodist Church reaches outside the walls of the church to provide help and hope through strategic partnerships with additional organizations in the Dallas Fort Worth area.
