Carpenters for Christ, a ministry of HPUMC since 1995, has made the largest commitment to Habitat for Humanity of any single congregation in the world. We work to lift families out of poverty by helping to provide decent and affordable housing.

SPRING 2024 WORKSITE INFO

March-May 2024

Address: 3014 Rochester Street, Dallas, TX 75215

Check-in each work day is 7:45 am and we will finish by 3 pm. Lunch is provided.

*Dates may be altered if required due to weather conditions.

  • Saturday, March 23: Stand and brace walls. Cap plate if possible.
  • Saturday, April 6: Load, stand, and brace trusses. Sheath walls.
  • Wednesday, April 10: Install sub-fascia, blue board, and porch columns. Sheath gables.
  • Wednesday, April 17: Install exterior doors and windows, trim porch, and other exterior items.
  • Wednesday, April 24: Complete trim and install the soffit. Siding prep and begin siding installation.
  • Saturday, April 27: Continue siding. Begin paint prep.
  • Saturday, May 4: Finish trim. Paint.
  • Saturday, May 11: Finish painting. Punch List.

It's time for a Spring build! Please join us in fun, fellowship, and enjoying wonderful food while volunteering to build with Carpenters for Christ.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Dallas Habitat for Humanity. All volunteers must be registered in our Volunteer Portal before volunteering. Please note, background checks are NO LONGER REQUIRED for volunteers. To ensure a smooth volunteering experience, please follow these instructions.

SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER

1. Click here to access the Carpenters for Christ build #126 sign-up.

2. Before clicking "Sign Up," select the date(s) for which you will be volunteering.

3. To complete the registration, log in to your existing portal account if you're a returning volunteer. Create an account if you're a new volunteer.

4. NOTE: In the "Connections" section of the sign-up, select "Highland Park United Methodist Church."

Habitat for Humanity Age Restrictions:

  • Under 16 years of age: not allowed on-site during any phase of construction.

  • 16 to 17 years old: allowed to participate with one adult (over 21) per five youth; not allowed to operate power tools or get on the roof.

  • 18+: allowed to participate in all construction activities.

DETAILS FOR YOUR BUILD DAY

What to wear: Comfortable clothing which you don’t mind getting dirty.
Tennis shoes or other sturdy close-toed shoes. NO sandals, flip-flops, Crocs, or Toms.
In muddy/rainy conditions bring an extra pair of shoes and a plastic bag is suggested.

What to bring: If you have gloves or tools, bring them along. NO POWER TOOLS PLEASE. Dallas Habitat requires that all volunteers on site wear hard hats. (We will provide enough hard hats for all volunteers.) Dallas Habitat for Humanity has first-aid kits located on the build site but volunteers are responsible for bringing personal items (For example: Epipen).

Weather: In case of inclement weather, you will receive an email notification and a text message if the build is canceled. The Wall Shop will not close due to rain but will close due to unsafe roads such as ice.
Please ensure you are opted in to receive text messages. We only text about changes to your volunteer event. We do not solicit.

Go to the weather button at the bottom of this page after 6 am on the day of your shift to see if the build is canceled.

Please cancel your registration if you or anyone in your household develops COVID-19 symptoms or is exposed to someone who may have COVID-19, in the 10 days prior to your volunteer shift.
