There comes a time in life when it is impossible to ignore the beckoning of aging. We experience changes in our bodies and minds, or we lose someone we love, leaving us no choice but to face reality. Many of us are weary of the worn-out tropes about old people. We long to still feel vital and useful…maybe in a new way?
In “Women Rowing North: Navigating Life’s Currents and Flourishing as We Age” by Mary Pipher, we find a road map for a new way to age. Pipher, writer and therapist, has written a book packed with insights and ideas to help us move “north,” as she calls aging.
In this reading group, you will come having read the assigned pages, prepared to participate in discussion. This is not a support group or a book review, but it is an opportunity to try on new ideas about aging and discuss those ideas with others. The tone will be positive, uplifting, and encouraging.
This group will meet on Thursdays, Sept. 22, Oct. 6 and 20, and Nov. 3 and 17.
