Scott Dettra, Organist of HPUMC, will be joined by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet to conclude the season with musical elegance.
Scott Dettra is acclaimed as one of America’s outstanding concert organ virtuosos. Equally at home at the harpsichord and piano, he is a versatile musician who is comfortable in a wide range of musical styles. Hailed as a “brilliant organist” (Dallas Morning News), and an “outstanding musician” (The Diapason), his playing has been described by The American Organist as “music making of absolute authority and sophisticated expression.” Organist of Highland Park United Methodist Church, he also teaches organ at Southern Methodist University and is Organist of The Crossing, the multi-Grammy-winning professional chamber choir based in Philadelphia.
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet is composed of the principal players of The Dallas Symphony Orchestra. The players’ experiences collectively go beyond the orchestra boundaries and include playing in bands, chamber groups, studio recordings, soloing, clinics, and jazz ensembles. This wide range of experience makes the DSOBQ unique in the long list of brass quintets and is evident in their varied programming. Comfortable from classical to jazz repertoire, the music making of this quintet is sure to entertain and uplift all audiences.
