Tower Arts Presents the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra with Alessio Bax, Piano

  • Sunday, February 26
  • 5:30pm – 6:30pm
  • Sanctuary

Orpheus Chamber Orchestra is a radical experiment in musical democracy, showing for fifty years what happens when exceptional artists gather with total trust in each other and faith in the creative process. This collective of musicians joined forces in 1972 when a group of New York freelancers in their early twenties came together to play orchestral repertoire as if it were chamber music. Without the leadership of a conductor, these 20 to 30 musicians create a beautiful sound that reflects their unique capacity to create collaboratively.

Their initiative, Orpheus Reflections, strives to bring the healing power of music to people living with Alzheimer’s disease, and other forms of dementia, and their caregivers. In an effort to serve this community, there will be a special performance for our HPUMC Journey Ministry that will be live streamed to surrounding Alzheimer’s and dementia communities.

Each performance in the Tower Arts Series will be preceded by a Carillon concert on our beautiful Porter Memorial Carillon featuring our talented, volunteer Carillonneurs. Following each concert, Chance's Cafe will host a reception with snacks and drinks. We hope you can join us for these special events!

The David R. Davidson Tower Arts Concert Series is supported by patrons and presented to the community as a gift to share music with all. No tickets or registration required. We hope you can join us!

This event will also be available via live stream. Want to know how to watch online?
