Martin Luther and the Birth of the Reformation

  • Wednesday, July 8
  • 12:00pm – 1:00pm
  • Bush Family Confirmation Center or Online

During this nine-week course, we will explore the story of Martin Luther. His break with the Catholic church launched the Reformation and is credited with laying the foundations for the modern world. The class will start with a look at Luther's early life and time in Wittenberg. From there, we will discuss his 95 Theses, Luther as printer and publisher (and the print wars), the debates of 1518-1519, Luther's 'new theology', and his radical new interpretation of the faith. We will finish with the five writings that laid the foundations for the Reformation, the Protestant faith, and the modern world, and the final confrontation at Worms.
