You're invited to participate in an upcoming one-day Justice Ministry event in West Dallas on Saturday, May 2. This pilgrimage will include stops and conversations at many important areas in Little Mexico, Bishop Arts, and other parts of West Dallas. Many of the leaders guiding us through these stops have lived through this history and will share their own personal testimonies and connections with us. As always with the Justice Ministry pilgrimages, it will be a day to connect with friends as we learn our own city's history, ask curious questions, and share an understanding of God's love for each of us.
The pilgrimage will also include an optional event on Sunday, May 3. We will have the opportunity to attend Sunday morning worship at Christ's Foundry, a Methodist community in West Dallas. More details will be provided.
Leading up to the trip, a class will be offered to study the book "Dallas's Little Mexico" by Sol Villasana. We will also reference part of the book “Barrio America” by A.K. Sandoval-Strausz, which highlights the Bishop Arts area and how immigrants revitalized that area of Dallas. While it is not required that every trip registrant take part in the book study, the class will certainly enhance the impact of the trip.
