EASTER AT HPUMC: RISEN
Jesus has Risen. From Palm Sunday through Holy Saturday and then the joy of Easter, more than 19,000 people gathered in person and online for HPUMC’s worship services to celebrate the new life, fresh hope, and a future with God through Jesus’ resurrection. We hope that everyone who joined us had a meaningful experience from the road into Jerusalem to the empty tomb. Click through the images below to relive this year’s Holy Week and Easter experience.
Easter Recap Photos

Easter reminds us of the unimaginable love and sacrifice of Jesus—and the miracle that changed everything. Three days later, the stone was rolled away, and out of the tomb came new life, fresh hope, and a future with God. We can’t wait to gather with you this Easter to proclaim that Jesus is Risen!

Cornerstone Services
If you plan to join us for one of the Cornerstone Services, don’t worry—the rain won’t stop our joy! We are moving the celebration into Wesley Hall (just like a regular Sunday morning). We’ll still celebrate with all our Easter fun—tacos, donuts, coffee—just with a roof overhead.
Exciting news!
We’re adding a brand-new 11 am Cornerstone service to allow even more people to join in the celebration.
All services will also be available online, via hpumconline.org, our app, Apple TV, or Roku.

Sanctuary Worship
Join us in HPUMC's historic Sanctuary for a traditional Easter worship experience at 8, 9, 10 or 11 am featuring the Chancel Choir, organ and brass. We also offer Saturday Easter services in the Sanctuary at 5 and 7 pm. All services will be available online, via hpumconline.org, our app, AppleTV, or Roku.
We've updated our entry plan to keep you dry and out of the weather. If it rains on Sunday morning, you can expect to wait inside instead of outside under the white tents at the entrance off of Bishop Boulevard. Click the button below to learn more.

Starting March 9
Lenten Devotional
In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells his followers that he’s sending them a helper, an advocate who will be with them always—the Spirit of Truth. As Christians, we believe the Holy Spirit to be the third member of the Trinity: Father, Son, Spirit. And yet, most of us know very little about this animating presence Jesus promised would live within us.
This year, during the Lenten season, we’re exploring what (or who) the Spirit is and what it means for Jesus to call the Spirit our helper. Beginning in the first pages of Scripture, we’ll trace the work of God’s Spirit through the Biblical story to unlock the mystery of the Holy Spirit and its power to transform our lives.

Sundays & Thursdays in Lent | Weekdays of Holy Week
Stations of the Cross
The Stations of the Cross have been a sacred devotion since 1342, guiding the faithful on a spiritual pilgrimage through the key moments of Jesus Christ’s suffering and death. This Lent, HPUMC invites you to walk this reflective journey in Cox Chapel as you prepare your heart for Easter.
Through the Stations of the Cross devotional booklet—available in print and audio format—you will encounter scripture, prayers, and reflection questions at each station. These elements are designed to help you engage with the biblical scenes, process their meaning, and apply them to your own spiritual journey.
We pray that this experience deepens your understanding of Christ’s sacrifice and draws you closer to Jesus.
Holy Week
In Christian tradition, the days between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday are known collectively as Holy Week. More than any other time of the year, Holy Week offers the opportunity to slow down and experience the true meaning and significance of the Lenten season—but only if we’re intentional. If we want to hear God’s voice speaking to us through these momentous days, it will require intentionality on our part to carve time out of our regular rhythm. The Holy Week devotional is meant to help you do just that: carve out time in your regular rhythm to experience the true meaning of Easter. You can pick up a copy on Sunday or download a digital version below!
Gather Around the Table: A Traditional Passover Seder at HPUMC
Join us for a meaningful evening as we experience the Passover Seder, just the way Jesus broke bread with his disciples at the Last Supper. This traditional celebration tells the story of God’s rescue of His people from Egypt, engaging all the senses in a rich and interactive way. Great for the whole family — including children — the evening will include a hearty dinner and will be led by a representative from Baruch HaShem Messianic Temple.
Maundy Thursday
Also known as “Holy Thursday,” Maundy Thursday is a time to remember the events leading up to and immediately following Jesus’ crucifixion. “Maundy” comes from the Latin word meaning “mandate” or “commandment,” reminding us of Jesus' command to love and serve one another.
Join us in the Sanctuary at 7 pm for our Maundy Thursday service. This service will also be available online.
Good Friday
Noon Sanctuary & 7 pm Cornerstone
Both Services Streaming Online
Join us at Noon in the Sanctuary or at 7pm in Cornerstone for our Good Friday services. This is a day that proclaims God's purpose of loving and redeeming the world through the cross of our Lord, Jesus Christ. It is a “good” day because, through Jesus’ death, God closed the gap between Him and us.
Each of these services will also be available online.
The Great Vigil of Easter
Join us for this very special Holy Week service in Cox Chapel. The Easter vigil tells the story of God’s saving acts throughout history, culminating in the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
This in-person service held in Cox Chapel celebrates God’s grace through the symbols of light, word, water, and the heavenly banquet.
