Following Jesus Together
The mission of HPUMC is to help people become deeply devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Around here, we believe following Jesus is a verb; it takes practice, and we can't do it alone. In the church, we call the long, slow process of becoming more like Jesus Spiritual Formation, or discipleship. Becoming a disciple, or student, of Jesus means learning the kinds of things Jesus knew and doing the kinds of things Jesus did, all with the goal of becoming more like Jesus!
Over time, we believe we are formed into more Christ-like people as we learn more about Jesus, live in community with other Jesus-followers, and practice the Way of Jesus together through new habits and routines (and with a lot of help from the Holy Spirit!). We hope HPUMC will be a place where you can belong as you endeavor to become all that God made you to be.
LEARNING: KNOW WHAT JESUS KNEW
Part of following Jesus means learning to see the world through a new lens. One of the primary ways we begin to know the kinds of things Jesus knew is through studying Scripture. We believe the Bible contains wisdom and practical advice about what it means to be human, how we can love God and others well, and how we find ultimate meaning in life. At HPUMC, we study Scripture together every Sunday as we gather for worship, through the Bible Reading Plan, weekday classes, annual trips where we walk in the footsteps of Jesus and his early followers, and more. Our goal is to help you discover the truth of God’s Word and how it applies to your life.
Sunday Sermons
Whether you missed a Sunday or want to revisit a message that made an impact, our sermons are always available online. Take time to reflect and grow in your faith from wherever you are, whenever you need. For a more in-depth experience, find the Sermon Reflection Guide under each Sanctuary and Cornerstone sermon for engaging questions and insight.
Bible Reading Plans
Throughout the year, we engage in churchwide reading. Not only do we read the Bible together, we study together through short daily Bible study videos, an in-depth weekly email breaking down the text, and weekly classes where you can ask questions and join the discussion with people from around the world.
Take a Class
From Bible studies to relationships, parenting, finances, marriage, and more, HPUMC offers a wide range of short-term and long-term classes throughout the year. No matter where you're at on your faith journey, we're certain you will find something that piques your interest and helps you grow closer in your relationship with God.
Trips
Are you looking for a pilgrimage to help grow your faith, learn more about the Bible and religion, or help the community? Then join us on one of our many trips hosted by HPUMC.
COMMUNITY: LIFE TOGETHER
Our world is more connected than ever, and yet, most of us still struggle with feelings of loneliness and belonging. We crave community, and at the same time, we seem to have lost the art of living alongside others. But God never intended for us to live life alone, which is why the most important commandment includes both our love for God and our love for others (Matthew 22:37-40). As we follow Jesus, we’re invited to join a new kind of family—one where we’ll find encouragement, grace, and connection and where we can be our authentic selves, warts and all.
At HPUMC, we believe there are five types of relationships you ought to have in your life: God, a pastor, a group of friends, a mentor, and a counselor. Together, these relationships make up the foundation of your Christian community alongside your family, church, Small Group, Bible study friends, and others.

PRACTICE: DO WHAT JESUS DID
If we want to become more like Jesus, then we need to adopt the habits of Jesus. Early followers of Jesus were often called students of The Way, because they knew discipleship was a way of life that touched every aspect of their day-to-day rhythms and routines. What were the habits of Jesus? Things like prayer, solitude, worship, community, Bible study, serving, Sabbath, fasting, generosity, and witness. We’re called to adopt these same practices, not because they help us earn God’s love or goodwill, but because they open us up to God’s transforming work in our lives.
Prayer
Please let us know how we may be praying for you. Your privacy is of utmost importance. Requests are prayed for by our Pastoral Care team as well as our Prayer Tower Ministry, unless otherwise indicated.
Serving
We envision the church, empowered by the Holy Spirit, serving across all ministries, including in worship services, all age levels, adults, care, and disability ministries.
Scripture
We truly believe that we grow together as we engage the Bible in community. Throughout the year, we engage in churchwide reading plans focusing on major themes or books of the Bible.
Generosity
Your support allows us to transform lives: helping all ages at HPUMC fully experience Christ's life-changing love, feeding and clothing our neighbors in Dallas, and lifting people around the globe out of poverty. With your generosity, we can continue to grow, innovate, and share God's love. Just imagine the impact you can have with us!
