Journey Respite

Thursdays | 10 am to 2 pm | Bush Family Confirmation Center, 3rd Floor

While those with early-stage Alzheimer’s or dementia and their caregivers navigate challenges, our respite program is here to offer a safe refuge. Journey Respite offers a weekly meeting full of faith-based care at HPUMC. Trained volunteers provide support and encouragement to participants as they socialize and enjoy physical movement, music, art, and other memory-stimulating activities. Lunch is also served in a safe and comfortable environment.

NOTE: For Journey Respite, caregivers are welcome to drop their participants off and enjoy four hours of personal time while their loved one is being cared for.

Journey Tuesdays

Tuesdays | 10:30 am to Noon | Tolleson Family Activity Center, Celebration Hall, 3rd Floor

A new addition to the ministry, Journey Tuesdays aims to provide additional weekly resources and support. We want to encourage strong faith and health in those with dementia and help them find—or rediscover—a community of support that they can feel comfortable in. Every session, Chance’s Cafe will provide breakfast and participants will enjoy an activity together. Each week of the month will have a different focus:

First Tuesday: Community Cafe

Second Tuesday: Faith (begins September 2024)

Third Tuesday: Support Group

Fourth Tuesday: Health (begins September 2024)

NOTE: For Journey Tuesdays, caregivers must stay with their participants for the duration of programming.
