Rev. Matt Tuggle
Senior Minister
Rev. Matt Tuggle serves as Senior Minister at Highland Park United Methodist Church (HPUMC) in Dallas, Texas. He leads with a deep commitment to spiritual growth, pastoral care, and meaningful connection, considering himself first and foremost a pastor called to shepherd the church family. Matt is inspired by the vision of making things in Dallas as in heaven. HPUMC is committed to raising up leaders, building relationships across the city, and inspiring thousands to live out bold faith—generously sharing time and resources to uplift and support our neighbors throughout the community.
Originally from Atlanta and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Matt grew up at St. Mark’s UMC. He earned degrees in biology and religion from Hampden-Sydney College, where a season of spiritual growth clarified his call to ministry. Before seminary, Matt worked in special education and served in youth ministry, experiences that shaped his leadership and pastoral heart.
Matt completed seminary at SMU’s Perkins School of Theology, and after an internship in Georgia, he returned to HPUMC for his residency and ordination. He has since served in multiple ministry roles, including director of youth ministry, worship leadership, and executive ministry. Matt now preaches regularly in both the contemporary and traditional worship services.
He and his wife, Amy, have three children and strive to make their home a hub of family life, faith, and community.
