HPUMC Operational Budget Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I pledge and not just continue to give to the offering on Sunday?
Giving us an estimate of what you will give throughout the year allows the church to plan the finances to support its services, programs and missions accordingly.  The pledge is just an estimate of what you think you’ll give to support the operation of the church during 2009.

Where does the money go?
The operating budget suports everything the church does, including worship, Sunday classes, missions, numerous programs and services, and the staff and facilities needed to accomplish all of this.

You’ve asked about increasing my gift – why?
The number of programs and ministries HPUMC offers continues to grow. There is always a need to do more to love God and our neighbors. And, the church experiences inflation in our costs, just as we all do personally.

What happens if my situation changes and I need to lessen or cancel my pledge?
We understand that circumstances can change.  You can let us know at any time that you need to change or cancel your giving.

Who knows the amount of my commitment?
The amount of your pledge is kept confidential. Only a few people in the church office who process the transaction are privy to this information.

Can I designate where the money goes?
No, not for the operational budget.  If you’d like to designate a gift, you’ll need to make a separate gift to HPUMC.

You’ve answered all my questions – where do I sign up?
You can call the business office at 214.523.2212, pick up a commitment card during your next Sunday service, or make a commitment online.
