Why should I pledge and not just continue to give to the offering on Sunday?
Giving us an estimate of what you will give throughout the year allows the church to plan the finances surrounding its services, programs and missions accordingly.  The pledge is just an estimate of what you think you’ll give to support the operation of the church throughout 2008.

What happens if my situation changes and I need to lessen or cancel my pledge?
We understand that circumstances can change.  You can let us know at any time that you need to change or cancel your giving. 

Who knows the amount of my commitment?
The amount of your pledge is kept confidential; only a few people in the church office who process the transaction are privy to this information.

You’ve asked about increasing my gift – why?
We’ve had some very generous families who have been donating to us for years.  However, some gifts have not increased or are not increasing with the rate of inflation.  The number of programs and services HPUMC offers has grown substantially, and there is always a need to do more to love God and our neighbors.

Where does the money go?
The operational budget supports everything the church does, including worship, Sunday school, numerous programs and ministries, and the staff and facilities needed to accomplish all of this.

Can I designate where the money goes?
No, not for the operational budget.  If you’d like to designate a gift, you’ll need to make a separate gift to HPUMC.

I would hate to over-commit and have the church count on a larger amount than I actually can give.
Carefully consider what you think you might be able to give.  You could underestimate and then surpass that number during the year if your circumstances allow.  But again, if your situation changes, your pledge can be altered.
