Missionary Support

In addition to sending mission teams all over the world, HPUMC financially supports the following Christian missionaries and their humanitarian efforts.

Bethlehem, West Bank
Zoughbi A E Zhoughbi is the founder and the director of “Wi’am Center for Conflict Resolution.”  Zoughbi is a Palestinian Christian born in Bethlehem and educated in the United States.  His ecumenical non-profit organization offers counseling and conflict resolution programs among Jews, Christians and Muslims in Bethlehem and East Jerusalem.

Prayer Requests:

• For peace, justice and freedom for Israel and Palestine to pray and move freely.
• For the peaceful resolution of the Iraq and Middle Eastern conflict.
• For the continuation of our ministry and for the families of Wi’am.

Hong Kong
Dr. Kenneth and Mrs. Iweeta McIntosh have served for 16 years as United Methodist missionaries in Hong Kong.  Members of HPUMC, they were appointed as missionaries in 1961.  As pastor, Ken built and served in three Methodist churches in Hong Kong and has been instrumental in bringing Christian programs like Disciple, Walk to Emmaus and Christian Believer to these congregations.

Currently, Ken is the coordinator in Dallas of six language ministries of Project Pentecost.  Iweeta helps with the Tent Making Ministry, which has helped 200 families adopt families from China.

Kazakhstan
Dr. Chris Hena is a physician working with people who were exposed to radiation from the Soviet nuclear testing sites in Kazakhstan from 1948-1989. She was sent to this area by the General Board of Global Ministries and the Methodist Hospital in Houston to be a spiritual comforter and medical support.

Chris devotes her time to establishing medical workshops and clinics in remote areas. She also focuses on making disciples. She founded a United Methodist church and established several faith communities.

• Pray for the city leaders in Semey.
