Missions We Support
We believe that actively serving those in need is what Christ called his followers to do. In Cornerstone, we have connected to some specific missions, some that HPUMC supports formally, and some that it does not, but that all reach out in different ways to those who have no where else to go in a way that offers love, acceptance, grace, and above all hope.
Check out the following ministries, and we hope you find one that inspires you to be a part of Christ's hands and feet in this world.

Methodism's BreadBasket
The mission of Methodism's Breadbasket is to share Christs blessing with neighbors in need. Families, individuals and children of all colors, creeds and needs are welcomed with respect and given food staples and clothing, helping to restore their dignity and hope in times of daunting challenge. Founded in 1970 as a mission of the North Texas Conference of United Methodist Churches and located in east Dallas, MBB serves thousands of neighbors in need each year.
Cornerstone supports this mission by collecting donations of food and clothes throughout the year. Also, each year Cornerstone holds a back-to-school drive to help provide backpacks and school supplies for the children who are part of the Breadbasket community. To get involved with MBB, visit their website or contact Elizabeth Moseley at moseleye@hpumc.org.
NothingButNets
An international anti-malaria effort created by Rick Reilly, of ESPN Magazine, and the United Nations Foundation, in partnership with NBACares and the People of the United Methodist Church. For $10, a mosquito-repellent treated bed net will be purchase, shipped, and installed over the bed of an African child, in an effort to save the lives of an entire generation of children.
Cornerstone is actively supporting this mission right now by collecting donations for the purchase of nets. You may drop off your donation in the offering baskets on Sunday mornings, or mail a check made out to "HPUMC-Nothing But Nets" to Elizabeth Ethun, 3300 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX 75205. For more information, contact Elizabeth Moseley at moseleye@hpumc.org.
Prison Entrepreneurship Program
A prison ministry unlike any others, PEP takes convicted fellons - drug dealers, gang leaders, murderers - and pairs them with MBAs and executives, uniting them through entrepreneurial passion, education and mentoring in order to stimulate positive life transformation for both inmates and executives. With an extensive interview process for acceptance to the program, entrepreneurship boot camp, and a re-entry program, PEP's results are nothing short of incredible. This mission is based on the belief that God's grace extends to everyone, even if they are behind bars.
Cornerstone supports this ministry by connecting our congregation to the various ways they can serve through PEP. Visit the PEP website or contact Elizabeth Moseley at moseleye@hpumc.org for more information.
Agape Clinic
A free-standing community healthcare clinic in East Dallas, and a ministry of Grace United Methodist Church, whose partners include Highland Park United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, Dallas Concilio, and UT Southwestern Medical Center. The clinic provides medical care to Dallas’ uninsured, and its mission is to improve the health of medically underserved people by providing quality community health services.
Cornerstone is honored to have supported the Agape Clinic through generous donations from our congregation. To get involved with the Agape Clinic, visit their website or contact Elizabeth Moseley at 214.523.2299 or moseleye@hpumc.org.
AIDS Arms
A local program whose mission is to assist individuals in accessing the health care, resources and support necessary to successfully manage the challenges of living with HIV/AIDS. With over 20,000 people in the Metroplex infected with HIV/AIDS, this program attempts to reach as many of those as possible to empower individuals and families through effective case management programs that include assessment, education, counseling, referral, advocacy, long range planning, creative problem solving and coordination of services with other service providers. Additionally, AIDS Arms provides comprehensive prevention and risk reduction activities to communities and individuals at risk of HIV infection in the Dallas Area.
Cornerstone is honored to support AIDS Arms through generous donations from our congregation. To get involved with AIDS Arms or to donate, visit their website or contact Elizabeth Moseley at 214.523.2299 or moseleye@hpumc.org.
Mercy Street
A ministry with a simple mission: to instill values, worth and a sense of purpose into the youth of West Dallas. They place caring, Christian adults in the lives of kids starting in the 4th grade and continuing until 12th grade. Thus, by connecting mentors and children in Christ-honoring, mutually transforming relationships, Mercy Street's goal is to raise up a new generation of leaders who will bring about a positive, permanent change to the West Dallas community.
Over 20 mentors have stepped up from Cornerstone and HPUMC to serve children in West Dallas through Mercy Street. If you would like to sign up at a mentor, visit their website or contact Elizabeth Moseley at 214.523.2299 or moseleye@hpumc.org.
Juntos Servimos
A ministry in Matamoros, Mexico with the mission to serve people in need in Mexico by eliminating barriers to physical and spiritual wholeness, one community at a time. By establishing strong relationships with the citizens of the indigent communities they serve, Juntos Servimos (translated as "Together we serve") helps them raise their overall quality of life in a number of important ways including housing, medical care, proper food and nutrition, and education assistance. The ministry gets to know the families and their stories, and empowers and employs the local people to cook and feed and care and teach and build their own communities. The goal is that over time, the infrastructure of the communities becomes self sustaining and provides for the needs of its citizens.
After taking two trips in the last couple of years down to the mission, Cornerstone is hoping to continue the commection between our ministries. Though no Cornerstone trips are planned at the moment, donations of goods and money are a great way to support Juntos Servimos. If you would like to get involved with this ministry, visit their website or contact Elizabeth Moseley at 214.523.2299 or moseleye@hpumc.org.
