Welcoming Ministries Coordinator(part-time)

HPUMC's Cornerstone Community seeks an energetic, outgoing and organized servant leader to create and supervise an active welcoming ministry.  This will consist of:

  1. Developing and running a thriving volunteer program for Sunday mornings and special events, including recruiting, training and motivating volunteers; scheduling and communication.
  2. Creating a positive Cornerstone Cafe experience by staffing/training volunteers, managing inventory and equipment, monitoring/reporting sales and mission donations, and ensuring professional appearance and safety of facility.
  3. Participation in creative team meetings, contributing and assessing ideas for volunteer opportunities.
  4. Participation in developing similar welcoming ministries for Munger Place campus, opening this fall.

We require a committed Christian (United Methodist preferred) who has:

  • Experience in volunteer leadership and mentoring
  • Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of creativity, initiative and enthusiasm; ability to see the big picture while also taking care of details
  • Good computer and bookkeeping skills
  • Retail or restaurant experience a plus
  • Minimum of high school diploma/GED; college a plus
  • Physical requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds; ability to ascend/descend short staircase and to shop for supplies; good vision and hearing to monitor appearance of facilities and performance of volunteers and to coordinate with team members

Working Hours:  Approximately 15 hours weekly:

  • Sundays 7:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
  • Mondays 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Wednesdays 9:00 a.m. - noon 
  • Some of the Monday and/or Wednesday time may be shifted to Friday or Saturday for purchasing supplies, etc.
  • The hours required for this job could increase after Munger Place opens.
