Community Ministries Work Area of Highland Park United Methodist Church is responsible for selecting, screening and observing through regular site visits local organizations and agencies that are involved in helping children, the infirm, elderly and families who suffer and are hungry and homeless. Monthly communion offerings, Easter and Christmas offerings are directed to these community ministries to help serve our neighbors in mission.
Volunteer Opportunities
Turner Twelve is in need of tutors for high school Algebra, Geometry, English and Biology on Mondays-Thursdays from 4pm-6pm.
Project TransformationHomework tutors are needed at Project Transformation’s after-school programs for children in low-income neighborhoods in Dallas on Monday – Thursday, 3:30pm – 4:30pm. Programs are housed in urban United Methodist churches. Body & Soul - St. Paul's UMC Serve breakfast to the homeless To further strengthen our relationship with our sister church, St. Paul UMC, we are helping with Body & Soul, their homeless outreach program every 5th Saturday. 10 – 15 volunteers are needed to help serve (not cook) breakfast to 100 homeless. The commitment begins at 8:30 am at the downtown church and ends at 11:00 am on March 29, May 31, Aug 30 and Nov 29.
