RENEWING THE PAST ….EMBRACING THE FUTURE:
SANCTUARY RESTORATION BEGINS IN 2008

Due to the poor condition and increasing maintenance costs for our existing Austin organ, we will be installing a new Dobson pipe organ beginning in January 2009. To prepare for this installation, we are pursuing necessary maintenance and restoration of our beautiful 1926 sanctuary.

The design of the new organ allows us to restore the full view of the north stained glass window. There will be asbestos abatement as we remove the horsehair panels from the ceiling, which will also improve the acoustics of the sanctuary. The choir loft will be expanded to accommodate our exciting and growing music program. The stained glass windows in the sanctuary are bowing and are badly in need of repair. The particle-board pews that were installed in the 1970’s will be replaced with oak pews, the narthex bathrooms will be updated, and the balcony will have an improved slope for better sightlines.

The congregation’s Restoration Committee has been diligent in establishing a responsible budget for this project. Now we want to invite the entire congregation to participate in the funding for restoring our sanctuary, which provides worship space each Sunday as well as for weddings, memorial services and funerals throughout the year. This is a project that restores the work of previous generations and equips us to serve the generations yet to come. While at this time we find it necessary to spend money within our own walls, we are also at work with outreach in our city and the world through the support of projectsincluding St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Costa Rica orphanage.

Please consider a generous gift to this restoration project as we continue to pursue our mission to Reach, Teach and Unleash. There are giving levels for all ages, so consider your donation and return your card and check today.
