The GeneratioNext campaign marks an historic breakthrough for HPUMC because the ministry it seeded under its dynamic leader, Paul Rasmussen, called on its young congregation to raise capital for the first time. As you may know, Cornerstone represents a congregation with 1,600 worshippers per Sunday with an amazing relevance to young families, singles, collegiate, high school and youth members. Cornerstone is the ultimate start-up story, an intra-HPUMC church, born out of the love for bringing others to the Lord and His Great Commission.

09_Popes.jpgAs your campaign chairs, it has been a pleasure to be part of your GeneratioNext campaign and the extraordinary three-part initiative benefiting our youth, our young adults, and our mission to extend the Cornerstone ministry to East Dallas.  Joined in prayer since early December, praying “Lord, What Do You Want To Do Through Me?,” we firmly believe each and every one of you have reached deep into your souls to provide a wonderful response to our $7 million, three-year vision.

As we transition from the vision phase to the construction phase, we are reminded of the central themes held throughout the campaign: scripture and community.  Rest assured, our efforts will continue to maintain this focus. A community of believers. A community of followers. A community of congregants focused on our mission on earth: to love God and to love others.

It’s exciting to witness the generosity our community has laid before us. Even more exciting are the efforts underway to enhance our existing community, to encourage our youth and young adults in Christ, and to create a new faith community at Munger Place.
We are well on our way to realizing our vision. Share your passion! Enjoy the progress!  Experience the excitement!

09_McGuires.jpgThe GeneratioNext campaign is what we are called to do but it is through God’s Grace that it is being accomplished. We will never forget that—in the worst economic times since the Great Depression—a new group of 400 households united sacrificially in service to the Lord. The campaign also marks the congregation’s engagement in the future of the Cornerstone community and paying it forward to communities in East Dallas and Addison. We have so much to be grateful for as the campaign set record giving for a Commitment Sunday and is on track to meet its $7 million goal. More than 63 households gave advance gifts and 223 more gave generously on Commitment Sunday. More gifts continue to come in daily. Paul asked us to pray and follow the scriptural guidance and example of Nehemiah as each family built the wall in front of their home completing the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem in 53 days.

We are so happy to have been asked to serve as chairs and have been blessed far greater than we could have ever imagined. One of the greatest blessings has been making friends with so many in the Cornerstone congregation. Congratulations to the entire Cornerstone community for sacrificing individually and as families so that the next generation will become closer to God and in turn serve others to bring them to the Lord.
