FAQ

Why is this captial campaign called GeneratioNext?
Cornerstone is committed to sustaining and improving HPUMC and the United Methodist Church as a whole so that it is healthy and revelant in the lives of our young adults, our youth, and our children -- the next generation of Christians and United Methodists.

What will be happening to the Cornerstone area?
First, we will be changing the seating in Wesley Hall.  By God’s grace, we have grown beyond capacity there. Our 9:30 & 11:00 services are full & we need more seating to accommodate growth.

Additionally, fellowship is a vital part of Christian discipleship, and while we presently have a beautiful and functional space in which to worship, we have minimal space for socializing in the context of Christian fellowship. By reconfiguring the seats, we can begin to use nearly 8,000 square feet of rarely used basement space for a major fellowship area. Not only will the fellowship space help on Sundays, but it will become a major mid-week hub for our young adults and youth.

What will be happening to the Youth basement?
We are converting presently unused space into a fully functional, state-of-the-art worship and fellowship area for our youth. Additionally, we will be moving the youth offices into the area so that the youth staff will be housed on the same floor as their worship center.

The Cornerstone vision is centered on insuring the future of the next generation of Christian believer. We believe that starts with our children and youth. Presently, our youth have access to extraordinary leadership and mission opportunities. Their worship space, however, is substandard. This project will convert nearly 12,000 square feet of basement space into a fully functioning youth ministry facility – including a worship center, study space, gaming area and youth staff offices.

Why are we doing extension campuses?
“You are the light of the world…No one after lighting a lamp puts it under a basket, but on the lamp stand, and it gives light to all in the house.” Matthew 5:15

Cornerstone has been blessed with prosperity and is a beacon of hope for church growth with its dynamic and relevant worship environment. While the United Methodist Church has been shrinking every year, our church community is shattering the trend. However, we are landlocked by 3 acres. It will be difficult to continue to grow at our present location. With a mission rooted in prayer and scripture, an economically responsible plan, and a vision for evangelism, we believe that we can take the very best of Cornerstone and continue to grow by establishing multiple campuses around Dallas. We truly feel called to share what God has blessed.

What will happen to Cornerstone during construction?
During construction, Cornerstone will worship across Hillcrest in the Biggers Building. This was our home while the Wallace Building was under construction, and it will be fun to “go back home” for a brief time. We anticipate this relocation lasting for 5 months. Cornerstone's first Sunday in Biggers will be May 31st.

When will construction start and how long will it take?
The Wesley Hall and basement remodeling components of the project will begin in May, and will take approximately 5 months.  Our tentative first Sunday in the newly renovated Wesley Hall will be November 1st.

How do I give to GeneratioNext?
GeneratioNext is a bold undertaking that will require the generous stewardship of this congregation. Before you give, please find out all you can about the vision behind the campaign. Ask all of the questions you need to, and above all, pray daily: Lord, what do you want to do through me? In time, you'll begin to discern your role and commitment to the campaign.

We'll be asking for financial gifts in May. If you wish to give prior to May, you may certainly do so by sending your gift directly to the church and clarifying your gift for the GeneratioNext Campaign. Or you may click here. Thank you!
