Cox Chapel 8:30 and 11:00 a.m.
Worship Services
Welcome to Cox Chapel!  This magnificent Gothic-style chapel is home to a number of vibrant worshiping communities, which you can explore through the links on this page.  At the heart of the life of the chapel are the two Communion worship services offered every Sunday morning at 8:30 and 11:00.  Though different in style, both services engage in congregational singing and praying, hearing and reflecting on God’s Word in the scriptures and preaching, and celebrating God’s loving and transforming presence in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper.

Personal Prayer Time
You are invited to join a minister for a private prayer time in Cox Parlor at 12:05 p.m. every Sunday.

On the first Thursday of every month, we worship in the style of Taizé, which involves singing, silence, scripture, and prayer.   Taizé worship includes neither communion nor a sermon. It draws from more contemplative roots where silence and reflection are central to worship and mantra-like music allows the participants to center their thoughts on the adoration of God.

Because of its beauty and sense of holiness, many services marking important transitions in life–baptisms, weddings, and funerals–are held weekly in the chapel.  To inquire about weddings in the chapel, please contact Cindy Cummings at 214.523.2283 or cummings@hpumc.org

I invite you to join us for worship in this majestic chapel, and in the words of the psalm, to “Enter God’s gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise.”

Yours in Christ’s service,
The Reverend Jeff Hall
Minister to the Cox Chapel Congregations

Cox Chapel "Vision for Change" 2007

The Vision for Change is just that: a vision to change our community, our world, and ourselves by participating in Jesus’ vision of a transformed world that the Gospels call the kingdom of God.  Throughout his earthly ministry Jesus changed the world by doing two things: he taught the word of God and he healed those who were sick.  Often these ministries go hand-in-hand.  As Christians, those who are called to listen to and obey Jesus, we are enabled by God’s Spirit to do the world-changing work that Jesus did.  The shared vision for those who worship in Cox Chapel is that we be Christians for change by investing ourselves, our financial gifts, and our time in the two ministries of teaching and healing.  The two congregations that worship weekly in the chapel–some 125 people–accepted the challenge to raise $100,000 to underwrite world-changing work, whether that ministry happens here in Dallas or in another part of the world, and to create a permanent endowment that enables us to continue this work far into the future.
