February: Labors for Neighbors Hurricane Relief: Deridder, LA

HPUMC parishioners joined a group of students from the Wesley Foundation at the University of North Texas and other members of the North Texas Conference for a weekend trip, working on a new home for the Simpsons, a couple who lost almost everything in Hurricane Rita. The group worked on the ceiling, installed cabinets, repaired some busted pipes, leveled a pad site for the driveway, and several other tasks.

March: Spring Break Juarez, Mexico

HPUMC parishioners partnered with Aggies in Mission for their annual Spring Break Mission trip through Amor Ministries. Around 70 Aggies teamed up with the 15+ adults from HPUMC to build 6 houses in Juarez.

That same week, HPUMC's Youth Department built four houses with their team of 60. Youth ranging from 14 to 18 built the houses from the foundation up, working closely with the Mexican families who would benefit from their service.

May: Memorial Day Matamoros Trip

HPUMC took 37 people to Matamoros for a long weekend of mission work with Juntos Servimos. We delivered food and supplies to remote fishing villages as well as demolishing a house, painting another house, leading arts and crafts with neighborhood kids, building bunk beds, reroofing a house, doing eye exams and handing out eye glasses.

June: Philippines

In June, 9 HPUMC parishioners journeyed to three Philippine islands to visit and support schools and orphanages. The team delivered much-needed teaching supplies and instruction.

Deridder, Louisiana

HPUMC's middle school youth returned to Deridder, LA to work with Labors for Neighbors in their Hurricane Relief ministry. The Youth Department took 50 youth and adults on the trip.

July: Senior High Costa Rica Trip

In July, the Youth Department took 97 youth and adults to Costa Rica to work on several building projects and to lead Vacation Bible School for rural Methodist churches.

August: Costa Rica Orphanage Trip 

HPUMC took the first of many trips to work on the new Methodist orphanage in San Jose, Costa Rica in August. Participants prepared the grounds for a retaining wall, removed an old fence, cleaned and painted parts of the future administration building, and played with kids at a nearby soup kitchen.

September: Costa Rica Orphanage Trip

We sent our second Orphanage trip in early September, continuing the work on the retaining wall and ground preparations. This team of 13 also taught Vacation Bible School at three nearby churches.

October: Cornerstone Matamoros Trip

The Cornerstone Worship Community took a construction and education trip to partner with Juntos Servimos in Matamoros, Mexico.

Amigas de Amor Women's Juarez Trip

HPUMC partnered with several other churches and Amor Ministries for the 5th annual Women's Juarez Trip. 50 women from across the nation built 2 double houses in Juarez, Mexico.

Petit Goave, Haiti

HPUMC sent its first trip in over four years to visit and assess the eye clinic that we have supported for more than 30 years. Dr. Kenneth Foree, Lila Foree and Global Outreach Coordinator, Neil Moseley, visited the clinic, met with the Haitian pastors, nurses, and doctors who maintain and manage the clinic.

November: Men's Juarez Trip

A group of 23 men from HPUMC and other local churches built a double house for a Mexican family in Juarez, Mexico. HPUMC has partnered with Amor Ministries for more than a decade and built more than 100 houses.

Matamoros, Mexico

HPUMC sent a group of 12 to Matamoros over the Thanksgiving holiday. The team worked on several projects within the Derechos Humanos neighborhood of Matamoros. HPUMC partners with Juntos Servimos, a community-based ministry headed by missionaries Larry Cox and Dra. Nancy Rodriguez.
