The Baptism Day
- Parking may be a problem, so please allow plenty of time.
- Sanctuary – Parents are asked to gather in Room 202 about 30 minutes before the service to check in.We save the back row of the west and/or east transepts for the immediate family (child, parents, siblings) only. A volunteer will meet you in room 202 and take you to the reserved seats. They will escort you to the altar about ten minutes into the service. Your extended family (grandparents, aunts and uncles) should arrive about 30 minutes prior to the service to secure a seat near the front of the sanctuary. They are all invited to come to the altar and stand behind you.
- Cornerstone – About 15 minutes prior to the service, proceed to Wesley Hall and find seats on the front rows. The baptisms are conducted about 15 minutes into the service—after the announcements.
- Cox Chapel – About 15 minutes prior to the service, proceed to Cox Chapel and sit in the front rows of the chapel. The baptism takes place after the sermon. Mary Bishop schedules these baptisms but Rev. Jeff Hall meets individually with each family.
- Kerygma – About ten minutes prior to the service, proceed to Great Hall. The baptism is conducted by Reverend Walt Marcum. **Please contact Reverend Marcum at 214 523 2235 after scheduling the baptism.
We understand if you need to cancel or if your baby gets sick at the last minute. We will simply reschedule. Also, we are accustomed to cries, coos and unexpected events that young infants and children bring to the day. During the baptism, if your child is older and appears to not want to go to one of the ministers, you may be asked to hold the child during the baptism.
