In Your CommunityCommunity Ministries Highland Park United Methodist Church currently supports 32 community ministries. These are local non-profit agencies we are committed to serving financially, with volunteers and with in-kind donations. The Community Ministries Work Area, a committee of 15 church members, is responsible for selecting, screening, and observing through regular site visits these organizations and agencies that are involved in helping children, the infirm, elderly and families who suffer and are hungry and homeless. Monthly communion offerings, Easter and Christmas offerings are directed to these community ministries to help our neighbors in mission. Outreach Camp Since 1970 HPUMC has changed the lives of children and youth through outreach camp experiences. We offer our campers a week at either Kids Across America Kamp on beautiful Table Rock Lake in Golden Missouri or a week at Bridgeport’s Urban Camp which is modeled against Kids Across America located on Lake Bridgeport just outside Bridgeport, Texas. Carpenters for Christ With determination, purpose and encouragement by Senior Minister, Mark Craig, Carpenters for Christ formally organized in 1996 and set out on a plan to build 100 homes with Habitat for Humanity. Currently, the number of completed homes totals 46. True to its calling, the group still builds one home at a time with their only purpose to provide a simple, decent place to live for one family at a time. |
