For those who are interested in maintaining or working toward a lifestyle that leads to better health and reduce the risk of significant illnesses, the Health Ministry of HPUMC is offering ongoing sessions open to everyone to help with that goal.

Mustard Seed Table Talk is a friendship group that will help participants explore ways to develop a healthy lifestyle as part of their faith journey. A new topic is discussed at each session.  Scheduled topics may be expanded based on group interest.  There will be devotional time, nutritional discussion and time to share successes and challenges including new recipes and new ways to meet our goals.  No pressure, no homework, no attendance cards – just a caring group centered on faith and health!

Currently studying:  Reshaping It All by Cancace Cameron Bure.  For your copy, contact Naomi Lawrence at lawrencen@hpumc.org  or 214.523.2266.  Cost $8.00.

Mary Lee Miller will facilitate the sessions.  Mary Lee is an experiential educator with a background of over twenty-five years in the fields of sociology and education.  She founded Healthy Traditions in 1999 and continues to offer programs that encourage individuals to take responsibility for the long-term management of their own health rather than depending upon the latest fad.

Mustard Seed Table Talk meets the second and fourth Tuesdays from noon-1:00pm in room 384.

Membership is $10 a year and includes printed materials.  This fee may be paid online here or during class by check or cash.  Participants are encouraged to attend as often as possible, but consecutive attendance is not required.  Consider purchasing a membership as a gift for a friend.

If you have any questions or want to know more, contact Naomi Lawrence by email lawrencen@hpumc.org or 214.523.2266

Children with special medical requirements or who need physical care deserve a special dose of fun. As do their families. This service is provided by a team of nurses, friends and child care professionals who spend the evening caring for and working with these children. We even have special activities for siblings. The result is a chance for parents to enjoy a night out with friends and family, or a chance to tend to home needs without worry. If you are in need of our Night OWLS program, or would like to volunteer your time, call 214.523.2284. Find out more >

 Health-related Groups
Support and educational groups provide umbrellas of care during challenging times for members and their families. Groups are developed based on health-related concerns or life-changing events.   We encourage anyone needing help with physical, emotional or spiritual concerns  to call one of our ministers, to take part in counseling sessions offered individually, or to attend one of the health-related support groups.  For additional information, contact Cheryl Vandiver, RN at 214.523.2209 or vandiverc@hpumc.org.
