Lucy Crow Billingsley, Partner of Billingsley Company and Founder of The Chiapas Project (now Chiapas International) with Tricia Medrano Bridges, President & CEO of Chiapas International will describe how this Global Microfinance Initiative has helped lift more than 47,000 women and their families out of poverty. Join us for this exciting opportunity to learn how women in the US are helping other women across the world.

Monday, March 5, 10:30 a.m. ‐ Making the Case for Campus Ministry

Andy Roberts, Director of SMU Wesley, will speak to us concerning his ministry to the SMU student community which he feels is important “to the present and future of the kingdom of God and the United Methodist Church". Be inspired as we learn about the spiritual growth of these wonderful students who share their campus with HPUMC, and who will become Christian leaders of the future.

Monday, April 2, 9:00 a.m. – “Taking Time for Prayer” Spiritual Retreat

Candace Winslow will lead us through our annual Call to Prayer and Self Denial retreat with a study of Bill Hybels' book Too Busy Not to Pray. This workshop will center on strengthening our prayer life and further understanding how God answers our prayers. This must do event for the busy woman!

Monday, May 7, 6:30 p.m. – “UMW Presents: An Evening with Rev. Paul Rasmussen”

Rev. Paul Rasmussen, Pastor of HPUMC Cornerstone, will present a captivating program at this special evening meeting for ALL church members. Paul will include a special message to our senior girls who will be honored for their many years of mission work. Join Paul and UMW as we celebrate our Senior Girls and their families!

Monday, September 10, 6:30 p.m. – “Save Your Receipt: Exchanging Fear for Faith”

Dr. Alyce McKenzie, Levan Professor of Preaching and Worship & Altshuler Distinguished Teaching Professor at SMU Perkins School of Theology will draw on wisdom literature of the Bible (Proverbs, Job, Ecclesiastes and Jesus’ teachings) to address our tendency to live with our focus on our fears rather than our faith. When we focus on our fears, our lives are anxious, we are self absorbed, self indulgent and tend to be timid in speaking out in courageous ways. “Save Your Receipt” looks at how we can exchange our fears for a more faithful, compassionate, disciplined and courageous approach to life.

Monday, October 1, 10:30 a.m. – “Living Sacramentally and Walking Justly”

Each year United Methodist Women members prepare themselves for faithful living and action in today's world by focusing on specific mission study areas. Heidi Miller, Assistant Professor of Christian Worship at SMU Perkins School of Theology, will draw from her special study of worship and spiritual formation to guide us as we learn to live sacramentally and walk justly!

Monday, November 5, 10:30 a.m. ‐ “Striving for a Healthy Lifestyle”

Proverbs 15:30 says, "...good news gives health to the bones". UMW has good news for you! Learn how to live a healthy lifestyle from an expert, Susannah Peterson, Wellness Director for the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. No matter what your stage of life may be, you will find this to be a helpful and encouraging presentation.

Monday, December 3, 10:30 a.m. ‐ “Christmas Musical Program, Service of Remembrance and Officer Installation”

Join us as Reverend Susan Robb and Reverend Bill Smith bring us a Christmas message as part of our traditional holiday program. We will have a touching ceremony to remember dear UMW members we have lost in the past year, install new officers, and celebrate the spirit of Christmas with special music.
