We Care
Through a covenant relationship between HPUMC and the Pastoral Counseling and Education Center (PCEC), Staff Therapist Gregg Medlyn will be providing counseling to individuals, families, and groups at the church on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. He will also see church members at his office on Lemmon Ave near Lomo Alto.
The covenant calls for Gregg to:
- Provide professional pastoral counseling and psychotherapy for a standard fee as well as making available a sliding scale fee for persons in financial need. In addition, through a generous grant from the Texas Resources for Iraq - Afghanistan Deployment Fund (TRIAD FUND) of the Dallas Foundation, Gregg will provide free counseling for any active or inactive veteran of the Iraq or Afghanistan wars and their spouses, children, and families. This opportunity for counseling is not exclusive to members of HPUMC.
- Be sensitive to people’s diverse spiritual needs, values, and traditions and to respect and use the strengths of each person’s faith. Gregg and HPUMC are very committed to integration of religious thought with behavioral science.
- Provide leadership for church worship and education events.
Gregg received his MS in Psychology, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Counseling, from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. He holds the following Texas Licenses; Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). He also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from The University of Texas in San Antonio.
Gregg specializes in premarital and marital counseling, anger resolution and management, stress management, anxiety and depression, death, loss, and grief, trauma and crisis, personal growth and healing, money and financial issues, executive professional development, career planning and midlife/aging issues. He also leads Sunday school classes, seminars, retreats and groups at HPUMC on a regular basis.
