2019 Carpenters for Christ Build Information

On September 14 2019, Carpenters for Christ begins our 116th build, in partnership with Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity, in the Freemont Area. This will be Carpenters for Christ's first build in this South Dallas neighborhood.

We hope you'll join us for a full volunteer day since Habitat has cut its workday to seven hours (8:00 AM - 3:00 PM including lunch). AM and PM shifts are still available. Remember no experience required!

Address: 3122 Alabama Avenue in the Freemont neighborhood, Dallas, TX 75216

Day 1  Saturday, September 14: Stand and brace walls. Cap plate if possible.
Day 2  Saturday, September 21: 
Load, stand and brace trusses. Sheath walls.
Day 3  Saturday, September 28
Install sub-fascia, blue board, porch columns. Sheath gables. 
Day 4 Saturday, October 5: 
Install exterior doors and windows, trim porch and other exterior items.
Day 5  Saturday, October 12: 
Complete trim and install soffit. Siding prep and  begin siding installation.
Day 6  Saturday, October 19: 
Continue siding. Begin paint prep.
Day 7  Saturday, October 26:
 Finish trim. Paint.
Day 8  Saturday, November 2:
 Finish painting. Punch List. Dedication.

Lunch, water, and snacks are provided.

Work Hours:
8:00 am - Arrive, check-in
12:00 pm - Lunch (provided for morning workers)
12:30 pm - Work resumes
3:30 pm - Site clean-up, work concludes

Cancellations are posted each workday by 6:30 am

What to wear/bring:

  • season appropriate work clothing/gear (we work rain or shine)
  • closed-toe shoes
  • head covering
  • sunscreen
  • work gloves
  • hammer and nail belt, if you have them

Build Site Age Limitations:

  • Under 16: Not allowed on the build site until the dedication day
  • 16 and 17: Allowed to pick up a hammer and build but not operate power tools or get on the roof; must have one adult over 21 per five youth of this age; parent must sign a release form.
  • 18+: No restrictions
