Family Activity Center FAQs
When did HPUMC begin to consider building a new Family Activity Center?
HPUMC initiated an internal facility study in 2015 to address growing ministries and space constraints across our existing campus. It was determined the land owned by the church on Hillcrest (Biggers) would provide the most cost efficient option and allow for a state of the art facility to support the church’s growing Family and Special Needs Ministries.
What is the floor plan for the Family Activity Center?
HPUMC technically "owns" only 17 parking spaces currently, but our new facility will drastically improve that. The Family Activity Center will have underground parking for 135 vehicles.
1st Floor: Special Needs Ministry
This new building will allow us to maintain our current Special Needs programming while increasing our offerings and enhancing our ministry through art, music, cooking, and computer skills classes.
2nd Floor: Family & Youth Ministry
This new facility will give us the opportunity to connect with more students (7th-12th grade). Our hope is that this facility will become a trusted community landmark, a place where parents know that their children are not only safe, but known, liked, and valued by both peers and mentors.
3rd Floor: Worship Venue, Basketball Court, & Gathering Space
Our new worship space will not only provide innovative and engaging worship opportunities for our youth and families, but it will provide training opportunities to develop and mentor future clergy for our congregation and the United Methodist Church. The new basketball court and gathering spaces will serve as areas for families and youth to play, connect, and grow.
How much is the new building estimated to cost?
The new Family Activity Center is projected to cost $40 million.
What is the projected timeline?
Once construction is initiated, the project will be completed in approximately 20 to 24 months.
